I’m retired American diplomat, lawyer & university administrator/ professor trying to gain proficiency in French. I took 3 years of high school French, lived in Brussels for a year while in law school but course was in English and used to speak it fairly well. But now, I need to practice speaking.
I recently returned from a 2 week tour of Morocco & was accompanied by a French speaking Moroccan driver who did not speak English. I was able to communicate but could not have a regular conversation in French with ease.
I visit Europe often & lived in a number of European countries during my work abroad at U.S. embassies. Was never posted in a French-speaking country, however. My next trips will include Switzerland & France.
Now that I have plenty of free time, I am determined to improve my French language skills to a level where I can converse with ease with French speaking persons that I meet on my travels.
I speak English & Spanish at a professional level as well as advanced level Italian & basic Greek. I’d like a French speaking person who wants to practice their English, Spanish or Italian in exchange for helping me improve my French.
