Hi, I am Mingyang from China. Currently, I am a visiting Ph.D. student in Edinburgh. I am learning computer science. I grew up in Sichuan, China, and am pursuing my Ph.D. in Zhejiang, China.
Even though I learned English from a very young age, I found that I could not easily fit into an English environment when I came to Edinburgh. I can have a basic conversation with native people but cannot speak fluently and use words flexibly.
I am also very happy to help you practice Chinese. I have a standard Mandarin accent. Furthermore, I am also a Chinese stand-up comedian who performed in clubs in Hangzhou before I came to the UK. Thus, I can also give you some very authentic and popular Chinese expressions.

Hello!
My name is Dan and I'm looking for some help in relearning my very basic Chinese. I'm going to visit my in-laws in December and a recent phone conversation exposed just how much I've forgotten. I struggle with motivation without regular speaking practice but don't want to rely on my wife having the energy to teach me so thought I'd try this website.
In return I can offer English or British Sign Language (BSL) practice. I taught English for the year I lived in China and I also spent several years as a Support Worker for Deaf Students. I'm very patient and can speak with a clear, standard accent.
My hobbies include cooking, reading popular history books and super beginner hung-ga kung fu.
